Join us! The theme of this year’s festival is multilingualism.
The DiDa Festival invites artists, working groups, and collectives to take part in creating the 2027 programme in Vaasa.
Application period: 19.5.-27.9.2026
The DiDa Festival invites artists, working groups, and collectives to take part in creating the 2027 programme. We are venturing into new territory, as the event arrives in Vaasa for the very first time. Join us in building a more culture‑positive society!
The festival’s central aim is to raise awareness of the UN International Day of Persons with Disabilities, spark discussion, and highlight the art of disabled and sign‑language users. DiDa is a free‑of‑charge event.
This year, we are especially looking for works and projects that explore multilingualism. You may participate in any language, but we encourage applications in all national languages! The theme may otherwise be interpreted freely. We particularly welcome applications from young artists, but everyone is invited to apply.
The 2027 festival will be held on the 16th of January at Folkhälsan House in Vaasa.
Please send your application with samples of your work by 27.9.2026 to: dida@kynnys.fi.
Include in your application:
- Title of the work
- How many artists and their names
- Contact details
- Municipality of residence
- Have you previously participated as a DiDa Festival artist?
- Field of art
- Artwork details / performance duration (5-30 min.)
- How does the work relate to disability?
- Technical needs

- Fee request. Please note: we have a limited budget.
- Other considerations, e.g. access rider
If you are selected for our programme:
We will need print-ready marketing materials from you (presentation text and a press photo at 300 DPI). By submitting the material, you give consent to DiDa to their usage. If you are chosen for the program, we also hope for a video greeting where you briefly explain why you wanted to apply to the Dida and why viewers should also come there. If you can’t send a video, you can participate by sharing your answer in written form.
